The Unofficial
I-26 Construction
Madison County
North Carolina

Comparing this photo to the November 1998 one shows a few changes. The area just to the south of Rock Cut #5 has been cleared and earth is now being moved, and construction has begun to the left of the photo on a cut slope. If you look very closely, you might be able to see one of the columns for the Laurel Creek Bridge; it's now over 100' high and can be seen in the valley to the right of the picture. The Bear Branch Bridge has had no progress, though. The beams are still not in place in this picture. Photo taken in May 1999 by the Photogrammetry Unit.
