The lower end of the Bear Branch relocation, looking upstream. This portion of the relocation was constructed on too steep a grade, and the stream is now attempting to reach its original slope and has collapsed the banks as the water cut its way through the channel. A clay seam further upstream has stopped the erosion for now, and stream experts plan to rebuild this section next year into a series of pools and ripples. Photo taken in November 1998.
