This photo, looking south, shows just how BIG this cut actually is. Engineers from the 1999 ASHE Conference tour can be barely seen at the bottom of the cut, which is around 150' in height. When completed, this rock slope will be nearly 400' high with a 150' high soil slope on top of it. The slope is cut to a 1:1 ratio to help prevent a future rock slope failure. A rock fence and planter will be constructed at the base of this slope to keep rocks from falling off the slope and entering the travel lanes. Photo taken in May 1999.
