Large construction vehicles work to remove a slide of colluvium material north of Buckner Gap. The slide occurred last year during undercut operations and was left in place until this construction season. About 500,000 cubic yards of material will be removed and disposed of in the nearby waste disposal site. The large boulders in the foreground are about 15' in diameter and were part of the landslide material. Buckner Gap is in the background where the four lone trees are located; these trees can be seen from as far south as US 23 north of Asheville.
