This is the right side of Area #2, and one layer of rock has already been removed. The drill rigs are drilling the presplit holes used to define the final rock slope that will be visible when the cut is completed. This side of the cut has a slope in the rock of 0.5:1 because the rock planes slope away from the road, allowing a steeper cut to be used. Taken in June 1999.
