This is the Bear Branch Bridge that crosses Laurel Creek. It's completed and traffic has now been moved onto it so the old Bear Branch Road location can be filled in and work on the interstate bridge that will cross Bear Branch Road can begin. This bridge is about 50' above the creek and is on an 8% grade down to US 23. The bridge rails are not the normal Jersey shape because of our concerns for visibility; instead, the one bar metal rail was specified. The exit and on ramps to I-26 are within a few feet of the bridge on the near end, and the guardrail will be redone once the ramps are graded to protect those blunt ends.
