Due to the enormous amounts of earth moved on this project, the weather conditions and the need to keep everything seeded on a timely basis to keep the project schedule progressing forward, the usual method of seeding slopes by hand or vehicle wasn't very feasible. One option the contractor was allowed to consider was aerial seeding by helicopter, which would let him reach areas like high fills easily and quickly. This is Gilbert Southern's helicopter (looks like a Huey) lifting the seeding bucket. Photo taken in 1999 by Gilbert Southern.
