In order to avoid having a big, white, glaring pile of rock shining out at everyone after this rock buttress was completed, a layer of soil was added to the outer layer and then seeded and mulched. The bright upper layer is a row of erosion control matting, which is used on nearly every soil slope on the project to help provide some soil stability until the grass can start coming up. By the end of this summer the slope will be covered in lush vegetation. Photo taken in late May 2000.
