This long soil and soft rock cut slope is being protected by erosion control matting. The plans did not call for erosion control matting on all soil slopes, but the Resident Engineer felt using it was a good way to control erosion and give the seeding a start on the slopes until the grass could get established. Over 100,000 square yards of matting has been used so far. Photo taken in October 2000.
