In this photograph the construction vehicles are spreading out
and compacting undercut material for use in this highway fill. The
material is fairly wet and has to be carefully screened for organic
or large rocks. If it's too wet it cannot be used in the fills, and
material or rocks creates compaction problems. The material is
in six inch layers, and an inspector monitors the whole process to
sure no undesirable material is brought into the fill site.
