The rock cuts on A-10D aren't as high or as steep as the ones on A-10C, but they are still big enough to be concerned about rocks falling off of them. Instead of a rock fence or planter to stop any falling rocks, a reinforced concrete wall will be built. This wall is in the cut closest to the Tennessee state line, just south of the US 23 bridge and information station. The wall is about 5' high and 2' thick and has enough concrete in it to stop a truck from breaking through it. Photo taken in April 2001.
