The light green fill slope conceals a rock buttress built to
the highway in an area where a steeper fill slope was required to stay
out of Laurel Creek, a high quality trout stream. Four feet of earth
placed over the rock buttress to cover the rocks, provide a place
to grow and help blend the construction into the natural scenery
around the area. The raw cut above the buttress will eventually
to the top of the area where the trees have been removed.
