A closeup view of the reinforcing steel in the Laurel Creek Bridge. The upper mesh of steel is vinyl coated to prevent corrosion, and is separated from the lower layer by the little metal supports. The metal deck plating below both layers of steel runs between the steel beams and helps support the weight of the poured concrete, which will be 9" thick. Photo taken in June 2001.
