Concerns about the Laurel Creek Bridge rapidly freezing in cold, wet weather due to its height prompted a revision to the structure while it was under construction. A deicing system was designed and will be installed on the railings and median barrier when they are built, at a cost of nearly $450,000. The system has to be on the railings and median barrier in order to totally cover the deck. The sign marks the location where the fluid tank and pump will be located. Photo taken in August 2001.
