A good view of the excavation south of Buckner Gap. Most of the earth material has been removed down to the level of the drill, and from there on down everything must be blasted out of solid rock. The earth above this level will be sloped back to prevent any landslides, but the rock cut will have a very steep slope to minimize the overall width of the excavation. This cut will eventually be over 400' deep, with about half of it in earth and half in rock.
