This is a typical section of A-10 showing the 22' median with concrete barrier, concrete pavement for the through lanes, and the paved shoulder. This typical is used from the Higgins Branch Road bridges to the US 23 bridge near the TN state line, a distance of over 9 miles. The designations for the asphalt layers are for types of superpave; the S stands for Surface layer, the I for intermediate, and the B for base. The numbers and the letter designation indicate the density for that particular type of asphalt.
