This photo was taken in June 2001 by the Resident Engineer, Stan Hyatt. The Laurel Creek Bridge is still under construction, as is the big cut just to the north of it. It looks like the steel underneath the reinforcing steel is being installed from the north end, with the steel and concrete following behind. It's easier to pour concrete when going downhill, and the north end of the bridge is the high end. The off ramp for the Bear Branch Road interchange can be seen in the foreground; only the aggregate has been placed at this time.
