The Unofficial
I-26 Construction

This photo was taken in June 2001 by the Resident Engineer, Stan Hyatt. Stan climbed up on the big cut just north of the interchange to get this picture. The on ramp from the Bear Branch Road interchange for the SB lanes is visible in the foreground. I-26 is climbing up to Buckner Gap in the background, about a mile away, on a 6% grade. The ramp is stretched out because I-26 is curving away from it and the ramp would have been too short if it tapered in normally.
