APAC construction workers building the asphalt shoulders on I-26. The paved shoulder is narrow due to the shoulder berm gutter next to it, so a small paver has to be used. As the asphalt enters the machine from the top, it is spread and placed in the proper width and depth. The two workers on either side of the operator are making sure there are no elevation discrepancies with the concrete pavement or shoulder berm gutter. When placed, three different rollers will be used to get the proper density and compaction. A final layer will be placed later. Photo taken in April 2003.
