This construction is the southern end of the A-10C project, between Jarvis Road and Higgins Branch Road. Existing US 23 can be seen just to the left in the picture curving away from the project. I-26 is rather close to US 23 in this area; the construction limits are within 20' of the existing road as I-26 begins climbing upward toward Buckner Gap about 4 miles north of here. Jarvis Road will be relocated to the west (to the right in this picture) of the proposed interstate alignment. The graded road through the construction is a haul road built by the contractor to allow him access through this section of the project. Picture taken in August 1998.
