This picture again shows the 60" plate pipe, a haul road halfway up the cleared area, and some slope drains along the haul road. These drains are large plastic corrugated pipe placed to catch water runoff from the haul road and direct it down into sediment basins. The sediment in the water settles out in these basins, keeping most of it out of live waterways further downstream. Eventually the completed fill will be near the top of the cleared area, giving a good indication of just how much work remains to be done.
